Hendrick Manufacturing: Born in 1876
What does John D. Rockefeller have to do with the start of Hendrick Manufacturing in 1876? It was Rockefeller to whom founder Eli Hendrick sold oil-refining patents and then used the proceeds to develop a high-speed, multiple-punch perforating process. In the beginning, Hendrick manufactured perforated metal filters for the coal and oil refining industries. Production spread to other industries when the company’s new technique of efficiently producing perforated metal became known. This picture shows a variety of products Hendrick manufactured in the early 1920s.
