Riverside, MI – September 17, 2015 – Lindberg/MPH announced the shipment of an electrically heated steam atmosphere pit furnace for a leading steel cutting tool supplier. The Steam Homo® Pit Furnace performs a steam treating process on tool steel with a maximum gross workload of 1,920lbs. Steam treating produces an oxide film on the surface of the part which improves wear resistance and corrosion resistance. This process creates a uniform blue-black finish.
The steam pit furnace has a maximum temperature rating of 1250°F and a work chamber is 22” in diameter and 36” deep. This furnace is the sixth Lindberg/MPH unit the customer owns and was ordered to replace a unit that had over 30 years of service. The furnace features a thermocartridge fan which increases heat and atmosphere recirculation. A solid wall baffle is in place for uniform atmosphere and heat distribution. The new Lindberg/MPH design features a maintenance friendly fan and motor assembly to provide reliable and easy maintenance when needed, compared to the previous design. There is optimal steam piping control and atmosphere tight retort systems in place. The heat treating furnace has vacuum formed ceramic fiber modules with low heat storage for fast heat up rates. The heater coils are designed with low surface watt density for extended service life as well.
“Lindberg/MPH furnaces are known for their durability and many of our customers have multiple units. We stand behind the quality and dependability of our equipment and because of that we are now offering a 3-year warranty on all new equipment.”
Tim Josephs, Sales Representative
Unique features of this furnace include:
• Honeywell DCP series temperature controller/programmer with digital set point & display
• Honeywell UDC2500 excess temperature controller to protect the furnace from exceeding the maximum temperature
• Lid limit switch to disconnect power to the heating elements when the furnace is open
• Furnace fan to circulate heat evenly throughout the work chamber
• Low heat loss ceramic fiber insulating modules
