ICOMold Launches a New Instant Injection Mold Quoting and Project Management System

ICOMold, near Toledo, Ohio, has launched a new instant online injection mold quoting and project management system. This new system will streamline the quoting process therefore accelerating the process in which molds and parts are produced.

Holland, OH, October 25, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Recently, ICOMold released a new Instant Online Injection Mold Quoting & Project Management System which has been in development for over two years.

Here is how it works:

Once a customer registers in ICOMold's system, a 3D CAD file, typically a .stp file (ICOMold has the ability to convert from other formats, but .stp is the standard) is uploaded to the system. Once uploaded, the parts can be viewed inside the system's own CAD model viewer; then it can be rotated, or zoomed in and out upon in the viewer. The customer can then choose materials, finish, color, number of mold cavities, quantity of parts, and shipping options. As changes are made by the customer the system instantly updates the cost of the mold and the parts. When finished, the unconfirmed quote is then submitted electronically to ICOMold project managers to take a closer look at the unconfirmed quote, and the model.

They check if the part is moldable; making sure it's not too thick or thin in areas, for example. Also, the unconfirmed quote may decrease or increase slightly depending on factors that the quoting system's logic cannot see or anticipate, i.e. depending on complexity the part may need a slide action (which could increase the tool's cost), or perhaps it wouldn't (which could reduce the tool's cost). The project managers and engineers make these determinations then send a firm quote back to the customer for approval.
