September 16, 2015 - In the midst of back-to-school time, Weldaloy Products is eager to welcome their own set of students for a unique learning and working experience. By opening their doors to students of Detroit Cristo Rey high school, Weldaloy allows young people to learn and work in a real-world, hands-on environment.
Weldaloy and Detroit Cristo Rey
Detroit Cristo Rey is a school located in the community that strives to equip their students with the skills they will need as they prepare for life after high school. In addition to the school coursework, students spend time at local businesses and explore different professions and workplace functions. The cost of the private education is then offset by the wages earned by the students while working at these businesses.

This is the second year that Weldaloy has participated in this program, and after a brief summer vacation, the team is eager to kickoff the 2015-2016 school year.

“It has always been our mission to reach out and make an impact on our community,” stated Michelle McCullough, Vice President & Chief Administrative Executive at Weldaloy, “This is such a great way for us to do something with a lot of practical value. It has been extremely rewarding working with the students from Cristo Rey; we are proud to be a part of this program.”

Michael Khoury, President of Detroit Cristo Rey, concurs: “Detroit Cristo Rey High School works hard to prepare our students for success in college and beyond. This would not be possible without incredible work partners like Weldaloy. They are changing the future for our students.”
