BEPeterson, Inc. was selected as the research vacuum chamber manufacturer for the SPIRou instrument.
The SPIRou instrument will be an infrared spectropolarimeter and velocimeter operating within a cryogenic environment at an elevation of 4200 meters. The SPIRou project is a scientific instrument involving a partnership of multiple countries with its final destination in Hawaii, USA at the Canada France Hawaii Telescope (CFHT) on Mount Mauna Kea.

The vessel required a calibrated leak rate of 1.4 x 10-7 scc/He/sec. The test procedure isolated the vessel from the vacuum pump with a ball valve with the pump turned off. A gauge was monitored and vacuum readings were recorded.
