SUPPLIER CHALLENGE:

Tier I Automotive Supplier needed to guarantee the placement of cyanoacrylate (instant) adhesive on a painted metal part prior to mating to rubber component in their high-speed assembly process to improve quality, throughput and reduce operating cost by minimizing down-time.

The current process utilized a clear (transparent) cyanoacrylate adhesive which was a challenge to detect under natural light by the operator since it was dispensed onto a black painted part surface. The process involved mis-operations (no adhesive) requiring inefficient, labor intensive and subjective manual inspections.

UV dyed cyanoacrylate adhesive (neon green) dots dispensed onto part is very easy to detect with naked eye and vision system when flooded with black light.

ARON ALPHA SOLUTION:

Toagosei America Technical Services Team developed a luminescent infused thixotropic gel cyanoacrylate designed to dispense cleanly from automated valves, bond quickly with high strength yielding material failure while allowing for a vision system to detect and verify that adhesive was applied to proper location on automotive part.
