Konecranes is launching Power Drive system for lift trucks, a driveline technology that delivers up to 25% in fuel savings without impacting power outputs and provided as an option for customers ordering new machines.
Power Drive is designed to enhance fuel savings through reducing the consumption of energy. A new hydraulic system configuration is now being used and performance has been unaffected by the alterations which have also lowered noise pollution.
Konecranes has also optimised the rpm and added a transmission with a lock-up function. The company claims that Power Drive delivers the same power as a conventional driveline but with 15- to 25% less fuel usage depending on the operating environment.
Andreas Falk, Sales and Marketing Director of Konecranes Business Unit Lift Trucks, said: “Customers who take advantage of this new feature will find that savings in fuel costs will according to our estimates have paid for the Power Drive in about six months or less.”
Konecranes has continually invested in the development in its machines’ efficiency. The company launched its first Hybrid Reach stacker in 2013, which reduces fuel consumption by between 30 and 50% and reduced CO2 emissions by 20 kg per running hour.
Konecranes offers a wide range of heavy-duty lift trucks optimised for container handling in different applications. These products are developed and supported from the Konecranes Lift Trucks business unit, headquartered in Markaryd, Sweden.
