The internship program at Pulaski Academy and Central Schools in collaboration with the Fulton Companies in Pulaski, has yielded a full-time career path for one PACS student as well as a paid summer internship for another.
Pulaski Student Konor Sanderson spent two years in high school in the career and technical education welding program at the Center for Instruction, Technology and Innovation.
His educational training combined with his internship experience at the Fulton Companies proved successful when he was offered a full-time welding position with the Fulton Companies upon his high school graduation.
“The hands-on experience was worth it,” said Sanderson. “I was able to figure out what I wanted to do.”
Another student, Schuyler Waldron, was also able to discover his calling through the PACS internship program.
After shadowing as a CAD intern his junior year, Waldron said he learned that the field was not for him.
Realizing his passion for information technology, he came back to the Fulton Companies his senior year for a paid summer internship with the IT department.
“I was able to learn what I like and what I don’t like in different environments,” said Waldron. “The experience is a great resume builder and also prepares me for college.”
