Qmed states that it is the world's only directory of pre-qualified suppliers to the medical device and in vitro diagnostics industry. However, there are many qualified suppliers not included and there are many suppliers that do not have the capabilities in the listed category. Qmed’s primary organic keyword rankings are on supplier’s names, not product and service categories.

Qmed states that in order to be considered for inclusion in the Qmed directory, companies must show qualification through some of the following criteria:

• ISO 9001 certification
• ISO 13485 certification
• CGMP compliance
• FDA registration
• Demonstrated experience with clients in the medical device or in vitro diagnostics space

However, many OEM suppliers do not meet such qualifications and it is not clear that QMED has such documentation and verification of these requirements.
