U.S. Construction Continues a Rapid Pace

This year there is no letting up on the number of commercial construction projects that are being planned or are currently in process. Seems many large-scale construction projects are on the rise.

According to the American Institute of Architects, commercial building is expected to rise over 7% this year. This growth is happening in all three major segments (public, private nonresidential, and residential) with spending increases expected in every major building category.

Some areas of the country are seeing more rapid growth than others, but the overall trend is moving upward. Cities such as San Jose and Tampa are expanding and, with increasing populations, the commercial building sector is also improving. New York is still tops in leading the country in commercial construction followed by Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, and Miami.

Infrastructure projects are growing as airports undergo major renovations and overhauls to support the flying public and roadways are improved to handle the higher numbers of vehicles on the roads today. Construction of the first new subway line in NYC has just been completed, and new projects like the Tappan Zee Bridge are in the works to improve traffic and commutes.
