Landisville, PA, (November 28, 2012): Electron Energy Corporation,a producer of rare earth magnets, has started a new research project examining novel magnetic materials that utilize rare earth elements. The goal of the project is to find innovative and inexpensive methods to create nanocomposite magnets in bulk form.
The ARPA-E will fund the research with $2,904,000 over the next three years. Other organizations involved with the process include the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and the Department of Energy Office of Science at Iowa State University.
The goal of the research project is to create new solid state processing technology that will change how magnets are produced, reducing the amount of rare earth by 30 percent.
