Conductix-Wampfler, the world's leading manufacturer of energy and data transmission systems, demonstrates its success in the area of container weighing with a contract to supply ICTSI’s Contecon Guayaquil SA with a substantial new order for LASSTEC container weighing systems.
Since acquiring LASSTEC S.à.r.l. in September 2013, this is the second order Conductix-Wampfler has won from Contecon for the Twistlock Load Sensing & Operational Safety System. Contecon initially purchased five LASSTEC systems for use on STS cranes. Highlighting their confidence in the system, Contecon selected Conductix to provide 12 additional units for use on new RTGs. The move puts the port closer to complying with the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) latest container weighing regulations.
The Conductix-Wampfler LASSTEC system uses patented fiber optic technology to accurately measure force applied on each twistlock within the container spreader. The data is then transferred to the terminal TOS for further analysis, storage, and operational decisions at the port.
“We were very pleased to be selected for this project”, said Andy Peluffo, Director of Latin America Sales for Conductix-Wampfler. “The decision by CGSA to incorporate the LASSTEC technology in 12 new RTGs reinforces the reliability of the Conductix-Wampfler system and demonstrates our leadership in this industry.”
“The LASSTEC technology exemplifies Conductix-Wampfler’s capacity to innovate and meet growing customer demands in terms of performance and technical complexity”, says Conductix-Wampfler Latin America Business Development Manager, Christian Nunez. Major spreader makers endorse the system, which can easily be integrated into new and existing installations, regardless of crane type, making the weighing system suitable for RTGs, STS, Reach Stackers, Mobile Harbor Cranes, Straddle Carriers, and the like. More importantly, the system meets the new IMO requirements and is a valuable tool for enhancing the security of terminal operations.
