Eriez ® Announces Expansion of Services Offered by the Central Test Lab (CTL)

July 17, 2014 - "Company News"

Erie, PA---Eriez® recently expanded into a new facility in Erie, PA at the company’s Wager Road facility. This location now houses the new Central Test Lab with dramatically expanded capabilities, according to Jaisen Kohmuench, Deputy Managing Director of the Eriez Flotation Division USA Office.

“While Eriez has always maintained a wide breadth of test equipment, this expansion allows the Eriez Magnetics Flotation Division to offer flow sheet development efforts like never before,” said Kohmuench. “In fact, a significant investment in flotation-related equipment, ancillary gear and capital improvements has helped ensure that Eriez can provide reliable scale-up data for plant expansions and new equipment installations.”

An important aspect of Eriez reinvestment is the installation of a complete MPP (mini pilot-plant) system which allows customers to simulate mechanical flotation circuitry on a small scale prior to carrying-out the full scale changes in their plants. This system, offered by the Eriez Flotation Division, has been engineered to economically facilitate flow sheet development using only drill cores. In addition, the Eriez Flotation Division now offers testing of complete multi-stage column flotation circuitry, complete with recirculating loads, rather than the traditional method of independent staged testing. These services can greatly improve the reliability of the data generated during laboratory testing.

According to Kohmuench, the expansion isn’t just with flotation gear, but all of Eriez core products, such as the company’s magnet line, hydraulic separators and filtration equipment. The facilities now allow for large-scale testing that was simply not possible at the old address. Additional capabilities include the installation of a new X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) analytical machine for assay determination. This allows Eriez to conduct in-house metallurgical control analyses to allow for faster turn-around for its customers.

The CTL has a highly qualified staff with years of flotation expertise along with a broad range of application experience. The EFD staff includes engineers with advanced degrees at both the master’s and doctoral levels along with field experience that is unmatched in the industry, according to Kohmuench. “These professionals are solutions providers who can accurately provide reliable results and full-scale performance predictions. We have found excellent correlation between the lab and the full-scale operation it imitates.

“The Eriez Central Test Lab has evolved over several decades from simple proof-of-concept testing facility to a state-of-the-art laboratory in which complete solutions can be provided for our customers,” Kohmuench added.
