Energy Efficient Ovens Save Money and Resources

In April, we celebrate Earth Day, a yearly reminder to be conscious of the environment and ways to protect it. The effects of Earth Day over the last 45 years have led to increased consumer awareness and programs dedicated to reducing the use of our natural resources, especially in reducing the amount of energy we require to maintain current lifestyles.

At Wisconsin Oven we also understand the importance of reducing energy use. Industrial ovens generate a large amount of heat and heat loss that needs to be replaced while the equipment is in use. In designing our energy efficient features, we needed to find a way to minimize this heat loss to save energy while maintaining a constant oven temperature.

Knowing that improving the energy efficiency of the oven would also keep the ambient temperature of the shop lower, we would be saving our customers money on cooling costs during the warmer months.

We were able to accomplish this feat and create an Energy Efficient Oven upgrade package that features thicker wall panels, a door limit switch, and an air filter for cleaner fuel burning and higher operating efficiencies. This E-Pack™ option is available as an upgrade on most of our standard industrial ovens.

This Energy Efficient Oven upgrade improves your company’s profitability by reducing operating expenses and adds to your sustainability goals. The thicker walls and higher insulation prevent heat from escaping the chamber providing:

• More uniform temperatures in the work chamber leading to more consistent parts with lower rejection rates
• Lower temperatures in the work area surrounding the oven
• A more energy efficient facility because of overall lower energy consumption

With the addition of the E-Pack™ upgrade, how much money could be saved? Well, the return on investment (ROI) can be as short as 9-18 months based on 2,000 hours of operation per year. The variables in this equation include utility rates, operating temperatures, cycle times, and the size of the unit.
